Thomas McLucas, William McLucas, Post-Post-Industrial at 17-18 Lower Dock Walk, London
Post-Post-Industrial by Thomas McLucas and William McLucas, curated by the artists, at 17-18 Lower Dock Walk, London, 21/06/2024 – 30/06/2024.
Exhibition Text:
Once the largest gasworks in the world, covering over 500 acres of land, Beckton played a major role in the development of London. Through this exhibition, fragments of this urban industrial relic are preserved, through digital scanning, site casting, found objects, and film, forming a hybrid archive of the landscape in its transitional state, suggesting speculative pasts and futures.
The survey of this site reflects on our evolving relationship with place, through the monumental shifts in the city’s post-industrial landscapes and suggests a qualitative and affective approach to fill the amnesic gap between hazy scenes of early 20th-century labour and today’s mixed-use developments
