Joe Pease, Peripheral, WUF, Solo Press Showcase, Basel

“Peripheral” by Joe Pease, solo press showcase curated by Fakewhale, WUF Basel 2024, 11/06/2024 – 12/06/2024.

From June 11 to 12, WUF Basel 2024 press-only event hosted the solo press showcase “Peripheral” by Joe Pease at Bar Rouge, a showcase curated by Fakewhale to highlight Joe Pease’s innovative contributions to the digital art scene.

“Peripheral” offers a retrospective view of Pease’s works, showcasing his unique ability to transform everyday scenes into surreal explorations of the overlooked margins of daily life. His video artworks, including notable pieces like “Out of Time” and “Broken Sidewalk,” blend natural, urban, and architectural elements, inviting viewers to shift their focus towards the periphery of their visual fields.

Originally from Australia and now based in Southern California, Pease is a self-taught artist whose works challenge viewers to reconsider the edges of their environment. Through his art, he invites the audience to discover the unseen and underappreciated aspects of their surroundings.

The title “Peripheral” encapsulates Pease’s approach—highlighting the less observed aspects of environments that surround us.
