Visual Detachment x Verse: Retina Misconceptions Allow Boundless Medium
On March 25th, 2025, Visual Detachment returns exclusively at Verse with a new Fakewhale Gallery format that interrogates our ingrained modes of seeing. By centering on the concept of “retina misconceptions,” this exhibition dissects the biases embedded in our visual apparatus and explores how digital art can liberate creative expression from the constraints of traditional media.

Reexamining Visual Biases
Our visual perception is shaped by cultural conditioning and habitual interpretation. “Retina misconceptions” refer to the subtle, often unrecognized filters through which we view the world: filters that limit our understanding of art and restrict our experience of the visual realm.
This exhibition challenges these preconceived notions by using digital art as a tool to reconfigure and expand the very act of seeing. Instead of reinforcing established visual hierarchies, the works invite viewers to scrutinize and question the assumptions that have long dictated aesthetic value.
The digital medium, by its very nature, defies the limitations of the tangible. It offers an expansive platform where creative expression is unbound by physicality. Freed from the constraints of material form, the artworks can manifest complexities that engage the viewer on intellectual and sensory levels simultaneously.
This liberation transforms digital art into a dynamic, interactive space; one where traditional definitions of art are rethought, and innovative practices can flourish.
Featuring a curated selection of 24 artists, Visual Detachment showcases a spectrum of methodologies that span algorithmic processes, data-driven aesthetics, and interactive digital environments. Each artist contributes a unique perspective to the central inquiry, challenging the notion that there is a singular way to perceive or represent reality.
Artists include 0009, neurocolor, Scorpion Dagger, Gary Edward Blum, A.L. Crego, uczine, MAX CAPACITY, drain, Chepertom, Olga Fedorova, Helio Santos, ranxdeer, Kitasavi, HAyDiRoKeT, Vidal Herrera, Henrique Cartaxo – Augurs, 『-』M░a░z░i░n 『-』, Yuri, danctrl, Morpho, Tony Wallstrøm, Introvoid, Woc, and Scerbo.
The diversity of techniques on display underscores a critical point: artistic innovation in the digital realm is as much about questioning established perceptual frameworks as it is about exploring new forms of visual expression.
Ultimately, in an era where digital interfaces increasingly shape our understanding of the world, this exhibition serves as both reflection and foresight. It probes the fundamental nature of sight by examining how biases, both individual and collective, can limit creative vision. At the same time, it offers a forward-looking model that harnesses digital technology to dismantle these constraints.
The result is a stimulating dialogue between the artist’s intent, the capabilities of modern technology, and the viewer’s evolving experience of art.
It is an incisive inquiry into how we see, interpret, and value visual information. By interrogating the very mechanics of perception, the exhibition opens up a space for new forms of creative expression that are adaptable, multidimensional, and inherently boundless.

The Release Dynamics
The release will go live on Verse on March 25th, 2025 at 7pm CET / 1pm ET. All 24 artworks will follow the 48-hour ranked auction modality.
