In conversation with Manuel Fois
During this episode of Fakewhale Live, host Jesse Draxler has a chat with Italian visual artist Manuel Fois.
A few moments into the conversation, Jesse introduces Manuel: Originally from Italy, he lived in London for almost two years before returning to Italy due to Brexit and Covid-19. He is now exploring new locations to amplify his art.
Manuel’s background in art is unique in that he uses sound to create visuals. Initially, he explores different environments and records audio.
He then analyzes the sound, cuts the most important parts, and turns it into an image by changing the codes that compose the audio file. It is this process of giving shape to something abstract that Manuel finds most fascinating.
As the conversation moves on, Jesse raises the question of whether it is possible to turn an image into different data points, with Manuel explaining how it is possible.
The discussion continues with a discussion of sound being just data points and the importance of translation from sound to data points.
