Fakewhale Gallery Presents C2ASH by Jesse Draxler on Verse

On May 8th, Fakewhale presents C2ASH by Jesse Draxler on Verse.

C2ASH marks Jesse Draxler’s return to Verse with Fakewhale through a continuation that expands the rupture initiated with CRASH.

More than a sequel, C2ASH defines a system. It evolves from the foundational tension of controlled fragmentation into a refined generative field where analog precision meets algorithmic structure.

C2ASH: Memory, System, Rupture

Rooted in personal history, the series draws from Draxler’s upbringing in rural Wisconsin among machinery salvage and structural failure.

The emotional core of the project remains tied to memory.

Two car accidents involving his mother, one fatal, serve as silent coordinates.
Trauma is never shown. It is embedded in every decision, every cut, every frame.

Draxler begins by photographing wrecked vehicles.

These images are printed and manually dissected with an X Acto knife.

Selected fragments are scanned and converted into high resolution assets, forming a curated visual dataset.

This hybrid archive becomes the input for a custom generative algorithm developed in close collaboration with the Verse team.

Each artwork is generated in real time at the moment of collection.

No result is predetermined. No repetition occurs.
C2ASH introduces chance into structure.

The output is a visual system where collapse is composed and instability becomes intentional.

This method escapes categorization.
It is not digital collage.
It is not conventional generative art.

It is an authored process, built equally by hand and code, where Draxler redefines image making as a procedural performance across media.

Aesthetically, C2ASH remains faithful to Draxler’s monochromatic grammar.
Born with red green colorblindness, his visual world has always been shaped by contrast.
That perceptual condition becomes conceptual fuel.
His black and white compositions strip away excess and highlight the unresolved.

C2ASH transcends the idea of a series.
It is a system made visible.
A restructured collapse.
A scar made legible.
